Teacher Shortage Set to Worsen in Hungary from September
The school year is closing with growing concerns over possible widespread teacher shortages in September at numerous schools and kindergartens.

More than 2,100 open “secondary teacher” positions have been posted on the public sector job website.

On the penultimate day of the 2021-22 school year, another 967 vacancies were advertised for primary teachers, 853 for kindergarten teachers, and 420 for special education teachers.

Website Eduline also notes that more than 150 educators had given notice of their resignations to the unions in recent weeks.

Eduline mentions the low pay (Ft 312,000 gross for a junior teacher) as one of the main reasons for the shortage of staff.
