On the Day of Hungarian Culture (22 January), the Janus Pannonius Museum (JPM) in Pécs launched the “Vasarely 2026 – Pécs” jubilee season. The programme marks two milestones: the 120th anniversary of the birth of Victor Vasarely and the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Vasarely Museum in Pécs.
The Hungarian House of Music is bringing back its immersive Sound Dome Festival this winter, offering a week of live music, concert films, special screenings and audience discussions inside one of Budapest’s most distinctive cultural venues.
On the Day of Hungarian Culture, January 22, the Petőfi Literary Museum (PIM) and its member institutions, the Ady Memorial Museum, the Fairy Tale Museum, the Kassák Museum, the Museum of the Hungarian Language and the Kazinczy Ferenc Museum, can be visited free of charge.
Hungarian Culture Day will now span an entire week and adopt a distinct identity, unifying events across the Carpathian Basin, Magdolna Zavogyán, state secretary for culture, said at a press conference in the Hungarian National Museum.
