New Law Mandates Most Foreign-Language Ads Must Also Have Hungarian Text
Foreign-language texts published in Hungarian media products, and in radio and TV commercials, must also be presented in Hungarian, apart from a few exceptions, effective January 22, the Day of Hungarian Culture.

Justice Minister Judit Varga wrote on her Facebook page on Sunday that the consumer protection supervisory will monitor compliance with the rule.

The Hungarian language is the most important expression of our national existence, the expression of our national belonging, the foundation of our culture”, she said.

“Therefore, protecting it and passing it on to our descendants, protecting the integrity of our linguistic environment is our shared responsibility”.
