Public Debt Ratio in Hungary Falls Slightly to 72.9% at End 2022
Hungary’s public debt relative to GDP reached 72.9% at the end of 2022, preliminary data released by the National Bank of Hungary (NBH) on Monday show.

The ratio dropped from 75.2% at the end of Q3 and from 76.8% at the end of 2021.

Hungary’s constitution stipulates that year-end public debt relative to GDP must decline until the ratio reaches 50%.

In absolute terms, Hungary gross public debt stood at 48,840 billion forints at the end of last year, up from 42,321 billion at the end of 2021.
