Radio Station in Hungary Fined For Anti-Gay Remarks by Presenter & Callers
Radio station Hír FM (earlier Karc FM) has been fined Ft 200,000 for broadcasting homophobic remarks on its live programme Paláver, the media authority NMHH announced.

The Media Council of the NMHH launched proceedings regarding comments aired on Hír FM on February 25.

It established that remarks made by host Zita Kroó and callers to the station promoted negative stereotypes of homosexuals and fed antipathy towards them.

The Media Council instructed the owner of Hír FM to pay Ft 200,00 as a fine and to read a statement on the violation of law in the Hír FM broadcast and publish it on the opening page of the Hír TV website.
