World Press Photo Exhibition, National Museum Budapest
On display until 5 November. Visit the World Press Photo Exhibition 2023 on its world-wide tour showcasing the stories that matter with photography from the 66th annual World Press Photo Contest.

Presenting the results of the 2023 World Press Photo Contest, the annual exhibition showcases the best and most important photojournalism and documentary photography of the last year.

The winners were chosen by an independent jury that reviewed more than 60,448 photographs entered by 3,752 photographers.

Evgeniy Maloletka of the AP won the World Press Photo of the Year for his photograph titled Mariupol Maternity Hospital Airstrike, which captures the suffering caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. 

The World Press Photo Story of the Year went to Mads Nissen of Politiken/Panos Pictures for his The Price Of Peace In Afghanistan. 

The World Press Photo Long-Term Project Award was given to Anush Babajanyan VII Photo/National Geographic Society for Battered Waters, for her coverage of water management and its impact on Central Asia. 

A photo-based video from Iran titled Woman, Life, Freedom by 10 anonymous Middle East Images/Iranwire photographers was also names as a winner.
