Nestlé Investing HUF 90 Billion in Pet Food Plant in SW Hungary
Nestlé Hungária is investing 90 billion forints (EUR 231.5m) to expand the capacity of its plant in Bük, in south-west Hungary, and will create 280 jobs in the process, Péter Szijjártó, the minister of foreign affairs and trade, said.

The pet food manufacturing plant in Bük uses sustainable resources to produce its electricity, Szijjártó said.

He also noted that Nestlé conducted a 390 million forint training programme, which the government supported with a 193 million forint grant, he said.

The programme contributed to “the Hungarian economy’s technological progress,” he said. Fully 90% of Nestlé’s products are exported, further raising Hungary’s trade balance, he said.

Hungary’s food industry employs 145,000 people, and its value jumped to 6,500 billion forints by 2022, he added.

Plant head Péter Noszek said the Buk plant is scheduled to create over 500 jobs between 2020 and 2025, and has employees from 187 localities in the area.
