In the 1970s, Rhoda Scott was known as “the people's organist” in Hungary. Thirty years ago, Varnus Xaver took over this symbolic baton from her. Today, with 40 million YouTube views and sold-out concerts worldwide, he is one of the top three most famous organists in the world.
The Opus Jazz Club operating the building of the Budapest Music Centre (BMC) has been granted the prestigious professional Award for Adventurous Programming from the Europe Jazz Network (EJN), the BMC said.
The JazzTime festival treats the audience to productions that convey a sense of timelessness. Dressed in the sound of jazz in early September will be Leonard Bernstein, the Hungarian pop divas of the 20th century and the classic figures of Latin music.
August 1 - 3 is the date of this year’s Paloznak Jazz and Wine Picnic that will be held at the northern shore of Lake Balaton for those that enjoy good music, quality wine, and gourmet food.
