Rosalia Wine Picnic in Budapest, 4 - 7 June
- 20 May 2026 4:00 PM
This four-day outdoor event transforms a large central section of City Park (Városliget) into an expansive garden party focused on regional viticulture, live music, and street food.
It stands out as one of the city's most casual and highly attended early summer gatherings, drawing a mixed crowd of local residents and international visitors.
Open-Air Tastings in City Park
The festival is designed around a relaxed afternoon-to-evening format, encouraging attendees to bring picnic blankets and spend the day on the park lawns. As afternoon sets transition into the evening hours, the programming shifts toward live acoustic performances, bands, and late-night DJ sets, turning the park space into a lively outdoor lounge.
Located within short walking distance of both Heroes’ Square (Hősök tere) and the Széchenyi Thermal Bath, the festival grounds fit seamlessly into a wider weekend itinerary. Visitors can easily combine a tasting session with a stroll around the City Park Lake or exploration of the surrounding cultural landmarks.
Wine Varietals, Wineries, and Regional Food
While the festival takes its name from rosé, the beverage selection covers a broad spectrum of summer-friendly styles. Nearly 40 Hungarian wineries from across the country’s distinct wine regions are scheduled to exhibit, showcasing light white wines, fizzy proseccos, traditional champagnes, and sparkling varietals alongside their flagship young rosés.
The open arrangement allows guests to speak directly with independent local winemakers about regional terroirs, grape varieties, and production methods.
The wine pavilions are paired with a dedicated culinary zone. The street food section features a diverse lineup of vendors serving gourmet burgers, small-plate grilled specialties, premium local cheeses, artisan desserts, and a variety of vegan options, making it straightforward to sample different pairings throughout the day.
Family & Community Programming
The event maintains an accessible, community-focused environment suited for all age groups. The spacious green layout includes dedicated afternoon children's programs and creative craft workshops for families, while the pet-friendly setup includes unique weekend highlights like canine agility presentations and dedicated social spaces.
The unpretentious atmosphere makes it highly practical for the international community to mix with local Budapest residents over shared tables.
