Four Die at Racing Event in NW Hungary Near Esztergom
Four people died and another eight were injured when a car veered off the road and drove among spectators during the Esztergom-Nyerges Rally.

The accident occurred between the villages of Lábatlan and Bajót in north-western Hungary.



The rally was immediately called off and the police have launched an investigation.


National Ambulance service posted the following:

"A tragedy occurred this afternoon at a rally held between Bajót and Lábatlan, when one of the racing cars veered into the spectators at high speed. Many immediately rushed to help the injured and notified the paramedics.

Our rescue coordinator mobilized significant resources, with a total of 4 rescue helicopters and 8 medical units arriving at the scene.

The paramedics promptly began treating the 12 injured, among whom six sustained minor injuries, while one adult was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and one child with life-threatening injuries by the paramedics.

Our comrades began resuscitation efforts for four injured at the scene of the accident, however, due to the severity of their injuries, unfortunately, the advanced level of care did not succeed."
