Retail Spending in Hungary Only 70% of Euro Average
The average annual retail spending per capita in Hungary is 70% of the average of 25 European countries, market researcher GfK found in a survey.

The Hungarian average of €4,572 lags behind the wider average of €6,517.

Luxembourg tops the list at €12,067, followed by Switzerland and Denmark.

Within Hungary, Budapest has the highest retail spending, 13% above the national average, but even this does not reach the national level of Slovenia or Croatia.

The poorest region is Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County, where spending is at 84% of the Hungarian average, a little higher than in Bulgaria.
