Fewer Baggage Thefts at Budapest Airport - Here's Why
The looting of baggage has practically ceased at the Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport since baggage handlers were compelled to wear body cameras, the National Police announced.

Before the body cameras were made mandatory, passengers reported thefts from baggage more frequently.

The number of such complaints has fallen from 119 in 2022 to 78 last year.

The Airport Police therefore recommended that baggage handlers should wear a body camera while at work.

Due to the cameras only seven criminal proceedings were launched. In five of those cases the thieves were not Hungarians, while in the two other cases police were able to identify the perpetrators on the basis of the body cameras.

BKK and MÁV ticket inspectors and paramedics started wearing body cameras in 2021 and they have been mandatory for police officers since last year.
