Antal said the EUR 1bn investment project at Liszt Ferenc would finish in 2034-3035, but some services could be available already in 2031.
Ground was broken at the airport in February for a 35,000sqm terminal, a 15,000sqm passenger pier and 132,000sqm of expanded apron areas.
Antal said annual passenger numbers at Liszt Ferenc were set to reach 25 million by the end of the decade, "according to conservative estimates", but could reach 40 million after the airport upgrades are completed.
