The government considers it unacceptable that Hungary has been fined by Brussels over its migration rules and will take legal steps as already announced in September.
According to the latest report by the Council of Europe's committee for the prevention of torture (CPT), prisons in Hungary are still overcrowded, with most inmates "having no or limited access to work, education or other out-of-cell activities."
The opposition Socialists have proposed the government should set up a fund for the prevention of violence against women and to include the fight against domestic violence as a subject in the national curriculum, the party's parliamentary deputy group leader said on Monday, marking International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The Western world faces a sea change, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in an interview to public radio on Sunday, arguing that a new "pro-peace, anti-migration and anti-gender" majority was emerging.
