Lazar is Gearing Up to Replace Orban Amid Panic Within Fidesz, Says Magyar on ATV
Janos Lazar has begun to jockey for a position to take over the place of Viktor Orban in Fidesz one day, as panic begins to be predominant within the governing party, Tisza party leader Peter Magyar alleged on ATV on Tuesday evening.

Magyar claimed that Janos Lazar "who has a fine ability to recognise the situation", admitted in an interview on Monday that Fidesz has been shaken and is not certain about winning the elections.

It is indicative of the crisis of the system that during his tour of the country, people very close to Fidesz appeared at his forums, Magyar said, but he would not name them.

He remarked that conflict reached a peak when Fidesz spokesman Tamas Menczer clashed with Magyar outside a Pecs orphanage last week.

Magyar maintained that Fidesz misjudged the situation in adopting such an aggressive style, as many Fidesz voters were shaken upon seeing that.

The number of Tisza supporters began to soar and the turnover of their webshop smashed records recently, Magyar said.

He also said that about 10,000 people have responded to the Tisza Party's call for potential candidates for the 2026 parliamentary elections.

Assessments of the applicants, comprising several rounds and political examinations is under way.

Magyar also said the number of supporters is still growing.

More about Lázár

János Lázár, born 19 February 1975, is a Hungarian politician and Member of Parliament. He was former leader of the Fidesz parliamentary group and State Secretary, then Minister of Prime Minister's Office in the cabinets of PM Orbán.

On his website he says the following about 'My belief':

"I am Hungarian and a Christian, a citizen of the Great Hungarian Plain and a European. I am also a husband and a father, and as a politician I fight for our children to prosper in their homeland, as members of a peaceful and thriving nation.

I am Hungarian, proud to be a citizen of my homeland and proud of its national culture. I consider every aspect of the one thousand years of Hungarian identity to be my heritage: I take strength from our chapters of glory, and strive to learn from our failures.

I raise my sons to see role models in those Hungarians who have achieved great things, and to always stand up as patriots for their fellow Hungarians – regardless of whether they live in Hungary, in former Hungarian territories, or anywhere else in the world.

For me a nation is more than simply a group of people who happen to speak the same language: each of us bears responsibility for all the members of our nation. We belong together."
