We are pleased to announce that Omara Portuondo, the living legend of Cuban music, will pay tribute to the Buena Vista Social Club. This special concert is not only an opportunity for music lovers to hear one of the greatest icons of world music live, but also one of the key stops on Omara’s farewell tour.

Born in Havana in 1930, Omara Portuondo has become a defining figure not only in Cuban music but on the global music scene as well. Throughout her career, she became known as one of the leading artists in the “filin” genre, which blends American torch songs with Cuban jazz. Through the Buena Vista Social Club project, Omara gained recognition not only in Cuba but around the world.

The Buena Vista Social Club was a tremendous gift for me and forever changed my life. I decided to stay young and learn something new every day," Omara stated.

The Buena Vista Social Club gained worldwide fame in 1997 when American guitarist and producer Ry Cooder brought together this iconic Cuban band, with Omara Portuondo as the only female member of the group. That same year, they made their debut in the United States on the legendary Carnegie Hall stage. The global success of the Buena Vista Social Club film and album launched Omara into a new chapter of her life, allowing her to win the admiration of multiple generations of fans.

Over the years, she has participated in numerous world tours and has been recognized with many awards and accolades from the music world. Her latest album, "Vida," won a Latin Grammy Award and was also nominated for an American Grammy. Through the Buena Vista Social Club, Omara Portuondo's name became forever intertwined with the richness of Cuban music and the history of world music.

The legacy of the Buena Vista Social Club is at the heart of Omara Portuondo’s 2024 tour, with performances in Spain, the United States, and Hungary. Her concert in Budapest offers a unique opportunity for Hungarian fans to experience the musical heritage of the Buena Vista Social Club live, while also getting a closer look at the iconic artist. The concert promises special moments, as Omara will perform some of the greatest songs of her career, evoking the richness and magic of Cuban music.

During the performance in Budapest, the audience will not only enjoy a musical presentation but also experience a true Latin celebration, where the passion of Cuban culture and music come together. Omara Portuondo has always brought deep emotions to her performances, and this concert will be no exception. The evocation of the Buena Vista Social Club's musical legacy is an experience not to be missed.
