Updated: Budapest Pride: Celebration of Joy, Love & Freedom Will be Held Again this June, Says Mayor
Preparations are under way for the 30th Budapest Pride, Budapest Mayor Gergely Karacsony said on Friday, adding that "it is evident that there will be Pride in Budapest this year also".

Karacsony said on Facebook that "it is just as evident as the love between two people", adding that "in this city nobody will suffer a disadvantage as a result of what they believe in, where they were born, or who they love".

He said it was a recurring phenomenon that whenever the country was facing more trouble, "the smear campaigns and acts of discrediting by those in power are getting stronger".

"No matter what anybody says, the celebration of joy, love and freedom, in other words Pride, will be again held in June in Budapest, a free city proud of its diversity," he said. "Perhaps it will be greater than ever before," he added.
