Opposition Wins Lawsuit Against Foreign Ministry in Hungary Over 'Paris Luxury Hotel Scandal'
The opposition Democratic Coalition (DK) has won a lawsuit against the ministry of foreign affairs which had paid some 230 million forints (EUR 575,000) for suites in a Paris luxury hotel for President Tamas Sulyok and his delegation during the summer Olympics last year, the party's group leader and director said.

Laszlo Sebian-Petrovszki told a press conference on Facebook that in line with the court ruling, the ministry must make available the invoices and names on the guest lists from the luxury trip, except for the names of members of the counter-terrorism unit.

"As soon as we receive the invoices, proof of payment and guest list, we will show those to the whole country, revealing who stayed in the Paris luxury hotel from public monies," he added.

He said that after former President Katalin Novak had been replaced by Sulyok, the reservation was kept in the Paris luxury hotel where Sulyok ended up staying for only three days of the two-week period.

"We are curious to see who spent the remaining week and a half in the Paris hotel paid from public monies," he added.
