Multiple Medals Won by Students in Hungary at International Chemistry Olympiad

Assistant professor Gabor Magyarfalvi said the competition had drawn 354 secondary school students from 90 countries. It consisted of a theoretical and a laboratory round, each taking 5 hours, he said.
The Hungarian silver medalists were Kata Erdelyi of the Fazekas Mihaly Secondary School in Budapest, prepared by Attila Albert, Artur Biro of the ELTE Apaczai Secondary School in Budapest, prepared by Bence Varga and Attila Villanyi, and Csaba Viczko, also of Apaczai, prepared by Peter Sebo and Attila Villanyi.
Janos Elek of the Radnoti Miklos Secondary School in Szeged (prepared by Peter Csuri) won a bronze medal.
The students were selected by the Chemistry Institute of the Eotvos Lorand University from among the best performers in national competitions. The selection procedure was supported by the ministry responsible for education, the statement said.
