Japanese Film Week, Toldi Cinema Budapest, 6 - 10 October

Programme Line-up
6 October, 18:30 - Another World (2019, 120 mins)
A slow-burning drama about Koh, a man who has inherited his father’s job as a charcoal maker but feels disconnected from his wife and son. When he reunites with two old friends, long-buried truths come to light, forcing him to confront his responsibilities to family and self.
7 October, 18:30 - Sea of Revival (2019, 124 mins)
Ikuo hopes for a new start when he moves with his girlfriend and her daughter to a quiet town. But a tragic turn of events throws his life into chaos, raising questions of guilt, loss, and responsibility.
8 October, 18:30 - Children of the Sea (2019, 111 mins)
This visually stunning animated film follows Ruka, a teenage girl drawn to two mysterious boys raised by the sea. As strange cosmic events unfold, the three are pulled into an otherworldly journey that blurs the boundaries between nature and humanity.
9 October, 18:30 - They Say Nothing Stays the Same (2019, 137 mins)
Set in a remote riverside village, this beautifully shot drama follows Toichi, a boatman whose quiet life is disrupted by the arrival of a young girl and the construction of a modern bridge nearby. A contemplative story about change, tradition, and human connection.
10 October, 18:30 - And Your Bird Can Sing (2018, 106 mins)
A delicate coming-of-age story about three young people navigating friendship, love, and fleeting moments of happiness during one summer in northern Japan.
