Foreign Tourist Numbers & Guest Nights Climb in Hungary

The number of guests at commercial and private tourism accommodations in Hungary rose 8.3pc to 1,643,000 in September from the same period a year earlier, while the number of guest nights climbed 5.6pc to 3,817,000, data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Thursday show.

The number of domestic guests rose 5.3pc to 781,000 and the number of foreign visitors climbed 11.1pc to 861,000.

The number of guest nights spent by domestic travellers rose 3.3pc to 1,679,000, while guest nights spent by foreign visitors climbed 7.5pc to 2,138,000.

Revenue of commercial accommodations, which include hotels, bed-and-breakfasts, camp sites, resorts and hostels, rose 6.2pc to HUF 103.7bn.

A total of 28,913 tourism accommodations hosted guests in September, including 26,154 private and other accommodations.

For the period January-September, the number of guests increased 6.4pc to 15,117,000 from the same period a year earlier. The number of domestic travellers was up 2.2pc at 7,631,000 and the number of foreign visitors rose 11.0pc to 7,486,000.
