Hungary and the UAE are forging an increasingly close strategic partnership, a relationship rooted in shared values like a strong emphasis on family, cultural heritage, and national sovereignty.
This was the key message delivered by Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky on Monday - pictured above - at this special National Day event by UAE held in Budapest’s elegant Museum of Fine Arts.
The outstanding celebration marked 35 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations. Minister Szalay-Bobrovniczky commended the UAE for its "unprecedented growth," noting its evolution into a global leader in both technological innovation and diplomacy.
He characterized the current year, 2025, as a historic turning point, highlighted by significant high-level exchanges, including a visit by the UAE President to Hungary.
The Defence Minister interpreted this visit as a clear signal affirming Hungary’s status as a key Central European partner for the UAE.

The past year has been particularly productive, featuring 18 new agreements across critical sectors such as energy, infrastructure, technology, education, and research.
A standout development is the defence deal between Hungary and the UAE’s Edge Group, which the Minister described as a milestone for advancing Hungary’s technological and defence independence.
Furthermore, negotiations for a comprehensive defence cooperation framework are currently in an advanced stage.

Beyond business, the Minister emphasized shared cultural foundations, including mutual respect for tradition, family, and sovereignty.
He suggested that the UAE’s success in balancing modernity with its heritage serves as an example for Europe.
Looking ahead, future collaboration priorities were identified as energy, digital infrastructure, and Artificial Intelligence, reaffirming Hungary’s commitment to this long-term strategic partnership.
