Dual Citizen Arrested After Fatal Assault at Budapest Nightclub
The Buda Central District Court on Tuesday ordered the arrest of a man who is suspected of beating another guest to death at a downtown Budapest nightclub, the Metropolitan Court told MTI.

It is suspected that on Saturday, after a brief exchange of words, the man punched the victim twice in the head with great force at a downtown nightclub, causing him to fall to the ground, lose consciousness, and then die in hospital due to severe head and spinal injuries.

They wrote that if proven, the act could be considered murder, which is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

The prosecutor's office requested the arrest of the man suspected of murder due to the risk of escape.

The suspect has no criminal record, partially admitted to committing the act, said he regretted it, and had not been involved in a conflict with anyone else at the nightclub before the incident.

According to the Court, it can be assumed that if released, the man would escape and hide from the authorities, as he is a dual citizen with foreign ties, and the crime he is charged with has a significant material weight and penalty, therefore the suspect's arrest was ordered for one month.

Meanwhile in Hungary, Man charged with slitting throat of daughter's abuser

The Pest County Prosecutor's Office has filed charges of attempted murder against a man who slit the throat of a man who was harassing his daughter at the Kerepes HÉV station; the harasser was charged with indecent assault and disorderly conduct.

The prosecution told MTI on Wednesday that the girl was traveling from Budapest to Kerepes by HÉV in February 2024.

On the way, a member of a drunken group made comments to her and stroked the victim's leg while licking her mouth.

The girl, outraged, told the man to leave her alone because she was going to call the police.

An argument broke out between them, and the man raised his hand to strike her, but his companions restrained him.

The girl then called her mother and then her father and told them what had happened. The parents got in the car and drove to the Kerepes HÉV stop.

When the girl and her group of three got off at the stop, the father was already waiting for them on the platform, and when asked, the girl pointed to the 'bully'.

The father questioned the man, then put his arm around his neck and tried to take him to the ground, but the bully escaped his grip and pushed him.

The father then took out a pair of scissors and used it to make a deep 20-centimeter cut on the left side of the man's neck. The girl's mother immediately called the ambulance, they wrote.

According to the information, the bully's injury healed within several weeks, and it was only by chance that the man did not die.

The Pest County Prosecutor's Office is charging the abbot with attempted murder, while the harassing man is charged with indecent assault and disorderly conduct.
