Home Rental Rates Rise Significantly in Hungary
Home rental rates in Hungary rose 6.3pc year-on-year in October, data compiled by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) from listings site Ingatlan.com show.

Rental rates in the capital increased 5.4pc.

In a month-on-month comparison, home rental rates edged down 0.7pc nationwide and fell 1.0pc in Budapest.

The monthly median rent for a home in Budapest stood at HUF 260,000 early in November. The median rent was HUF 240,000 in Debrecen, Hungary's second-largest city.

Meanwhile, govt to sanction developers who violate Home Start 'priority' project rules

The government has submitted a bill to lawmakers on penalties for developers who fail to comply with criteria for projects with a "priority" designation in the Home Start subsidised credit scheme for first-time home buyers, state secretary Miklos Panyi said in a post on Facebook.

The bill would fine developers HUF 10m per home for violations, Panyi said.

Developers who undertake projects with 250 or more homes and pledge that 70pc of the total will be eligible for Home Start credit may apply for "priority" designation, speeding up administrative procedures.

The price threshold for Home Start eligibility is set at HUF 100m or HUF 1.5m/sqm for apartments.
