Irish Man Charged with Murder in Budapest - Dark Details Revealed by Officials
The Budapest Chief Prosecutor's Office announced on Monday that it has formally charged an Irish man with murder in connection with the killing of an American woman. The office has also called for a prison sentence without parole.

According to the indictment, the man travelled frequently for work and arrived in Budapest on October 28 last year. The victim, an American tourist, arrived a few days later on October 31.

The two met on the evening of November 4 at an entertainment venue in Budapest’s 7th District.

After several hours of drinking, the victim went to the man’s rented apartment in the early hours of the morning.

During their time together, the defendant tied up the victim before assaulting and strangling her.

Disturbingly, he used his phone to take pictures of the victim both during the assault and after her death.

The following day, he purchased a suitcase and used a rented car to transport the victim’s body to a secluded wooded area near Lake Balaton in western Hungary, where he concealed it.

Police arrested the man the day after.

The Budapest Chief Prosecutor's Office charged him with murder and has requested that the Budapest Court of Justice impose a prison sentence without parole, along with a ban on his return to Hungary.
