Update: American Woman Murdered in Budapest
"It was a violent murder": Parents speak out as body of American girl who died in Budapest is repatriated.

New information has emerged regarding Mackenzie Michalski, the young American tourist who tragically died in Budapest in early November. Her parents recently revealed that their daughter’s body has been repatriated to the U.S. They vehemently dismissed claims that her death was an accident, asserting that it was a violent murder.

Mackenzie Michalski, disappeared in Budapest at the beginning of November, and it was soon revealed that she had lost her life. The authorities began investigations into an Irishman who was with her on her last day. The two young people went to the man's apartment where the girl died during sex.

Suspect tried to hide the body

The man allegedly panicked after Michalski’s death, initially hiding her body in a wardrobe before purchasing a suitcase and transporting it to Lake Balaton. He later confessed to authorities, revealing the location of the body.

The 37-year-old Irishman accused of her murder testified that the tragedy occurred during a consensual bondage encounter initiated by the victim. His lawyer stated that the man deeply regretted his actions and wanted to apologise to the victim’s parents.

The victim’s parents, in their social media post, thanked both Hungarian and international authorities for their co-operation and the outpouring of support they have received from people worldwide. However, they strongly refuted claims that their daughter’s death was an accident, emphasising that the evidence reviewed, in collaboration with Hungarian police, indicates foul play.

They said, “After encouraging co-operation with the Hungarian police and other authorities we remain confident that Kenzie's killer will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law for this crime.

"One important thing must be clarified. Based on all the available evidence reviewed during the consultations with the Hungarian police, our daughter's death cannot be ruled out as an accident, despite claims to the contrary. It was a violent murder.”

The investigation continues, and close friends remain convinced that justice must be served for what they believe to be a heinous crime.
