Budapest's Sziget Fest to Get New Look & Fresh Programme Elements This Summer
The Sziget Festival in northern Budapest this year will be given a makeover both visually and in terms of programme elements, the event’s organisers said.

Festival-goers attending Sziget between Aug 6 and 11 can look forward to a host of new programmes and experiences, chief organiser Tamas Kadar told MTI, noting that the event is undergoing a long-term upgrade.

"It is a constant challenge for Sziget to maintain its place in the international competition," Kadar said, adding that cultural consumption habits, expectations towards festival and the economy required the festival to keep reinventing itself.

"We’re taking a big step forward this year: we’re implementing developments and changes that focus on creative solutions while staying true to Sziget’s fundamental values, vibrant cultural programmes and musical diversity," he said.

Sziget will again be offering discounted passes, he said, adding that the early-bird tickets will be cheaper than last year.

Kadar noted that this year’s lineup will feature Chappell Roan, Charli XCX, Anyma, ASAP Rocky, Shawn Mendes and Post Malone, among others.

Cirque du Sziget, the festival’s circus tent, will feature a Japanese production with a blend of traditional Japanese instruments and electronic music along with visual effects, he said.
