Coco Chanel – Dance Theatre, Margaret Island Theater Budapest, 11 July
A tale of visionary creativity that redefined the way women dress — Coco Chanel is a contemporary ballet by choreographer Mario Radačovský, capturing the boldness, elegance, and transformative power of a woman who revolutionised the fashion world.

Radačovský is known for his full-length ballets inspired by iconic figures in cultural history, with past works paying tribute to the likes of Warhol, Beethoven, and Michelangelo. Now, his artistic focus turns to an extraordinary woman whose influence reshaped the very essence of modern style.

Coco Chanel’s path to success was anything but easy. As with many remarkable individuals, her rise was marked by hardship, resilience, and relentless determination. For Radačovský, the defining quality of Chanel is her authenticity — her refusal to compromise. In a world where convenience often triumphs over conviction, Chanel’s story serves as a powerful reminder of the value of perseverance, sacrifice, and unwavering purpose.

Her legacy, as seen through the choreographer’s eyes, represents a turning point so profound that fashion itself can be viewed as existing in two eras: before Chanel and after. Radačovský is captivated by her enduring impact — not only as a designer but as a symbol of courage and transformation.

As with many of his productions, Radačovský collaborates with his trusted Slovak creative team. Set design is by Marek Hollý, while Ľudmila Várossová embraces the exciting challenge of creating costumes that echo the timeless spirit of Coco Chanel.
