Early Music Fest: 'Journey Through Baroque Brilliance', Müpa Budapest, 29 March
The 2026 Early Music Festival at the 'Palace of Arts' in Budapest returns to the spotlight, showcasing the incredible diversity of the genre through a series of world-class performances.

The season opens with a true highlight: Handel’s beloved opera, Giulio Cesare. Taking the title role is the charismatic Polish countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński, whose stage presence is as legendary as his voice.

He is joined by the world-renowned Il Pomo d’Oro, an ensemble famous for their authentic and vibrant Handel interpretations, alongside a stellar supporting cast.

The festival then shifts focus to rare musical treasures as the French Ensemble Correspondances, led by Sébastien Daucé, breathes life into the 17th-century Swedish court. Featuring the remarkable mezzo-soprano Lucile Richardot, this evening promises a sophisticated journey of historical discovery.

For the grand finale, the festival presents Bach’s monumental Mass in B Minor. This cornerstone of sacred music will be conducted by the visionary Laurence Equilbey, leading the Insula Orchestra and the accentus choir.

It is a performance designed to heighten the spiritual resonance of Holy Week, bringing together drama, passion, and the joy of spiritual exaltation.
