Budapest Mayor's Office Launches Reliable Room Rental Programme
The Budapest municipality has launched a programme dubbed Together, Easier — Reliable Room Rental which enables elderly people to take in young people looking for reliable, pre-screened, affordable housing with stable legal guarantees, the mayor's office said on Wednesday.
The programme is being implemented as part of AHA Budapest - Affordable Housing for All, which aims to test new, affordable forms of housing and social support tools in Budapest, the statement said.
Budapest's city strategy for the elderly focuses on the safety and social participation of the elderly, reducing their isolation, and it emphasises the importance of intergenerational cooperation and programmes that make everyday life easier for the elderly, it added.
At the same time, Budapest has launched its largest housing programme in decades, with the aim of expanding the stock of affordable, stable rental housing, with the Reliable Room Rental programme being one of the key pillars of this complex housing strategy.
The programme is also open to Budapest district municipalities, as they can play an important role in reaching and supporting local seniors and creating community cooperation, the statement said.
