Tom Cruise in Hungary, Again - Spotted Filming in Budapest & Balaton
- 15 Apr 2026 6:10 AM
Local media have begun to piece together elements of the production. HVG reports that two BMW R nineT motorcycles were obtained from a local shop in Balatonboglár for use in the shoot.
The same reliable source notes that the bikes were adjusted over several days to ensure identical specifications, a detail that points to continuity requirements typical of tightly choreographed scenes.
According to local reports, the bikes weren’t simply rented and used as-is. They underwent several days of technical preparation to meet the director’s exact visual requirements - including ensuring identical dashboards and exhaust systems for continuity on camera.
Lights, Camera… Balaton
Világgazdaság has also confirmed the Balaton location, suggesting that filming has moved on from the capital to the lakeside.
While no official information has been released about the project itself, the choice of motorcycles and the shift in location indicate that outdoor sequences are being prepared, likely making use of the roads and open landscapes around the lake.
Some media outlets, including regional site VEOL, have referenced speculation about a forthcoming film expected in 2026, but no studio or director has been publicly linked to the work underway.
There is speculation that the Balaton scenes could be tied to an upcoming film titled Digger, but this has not been confirmed.
For expats familiar with Cruise’s reputation for performing his own stunts, the inclusion of these retro-styled but highly customisable motorcycles strongly hints at action-heavy sequences - potentially filmed along the 'Hungarian sea'.
For sure, Hungary’s role in international filmmaking continues to expand, and productions of this scale are now a regular feature.
For now, the presence of Cruise and a discreet but active production footprint around Balaton are the only firm indicators of what is in progress.
Further details are likely to emerge once filming advances or the studio behind the project chooses to make its involvement public.
Industry insiders note that Hungarian studios and locations are currently “full” with both international and domestic productions, reinforcing the country’s growing reputation as a global filming hub.
