Another Downtown District in Budapest Plans Short-Term Rental Reforms
- 26 Jun 2026 12:38 PM
The proposal calls for a multi-level system with district, residential area and apartment building limits on the ratio of Airbnb-type accommodations.
At the district level the limit will be 3.5pc, while in the Corvin area it will be 5pc. In apartment buildings the ratio is uniformly set at 20pc as a proportion of the size of floor space.
New short-term rentals could only start operating with the consent of residents in buildings. In the case of existing accommodations, their operations are preserved until a resolution from the general meeting of residents says otherwise.
