Learn Life-Saving First Aid Skills in English with Red Cross in Budapest
Accidents happen, and knowing what to do in the first few minutes can be critical. On 20 October this first-aid course held in English offers expats hands-on experience with essential techniques for dealing with medical emergencies, injuries, resuscitation and more.

Organised by the Hungarian Red Cross, the eight-hour course combines four hours of theory with four hours of practical training. It is aimed at people who want to develop useful first-aid skills, as well as those preparing for the first-aid examination required for a Hungarian driving licence.

The training covers a broad range of situations that can require immediate action. Participants will learn how to assess an emergency and provide appropriate assistance, including how to deal with wounds, bleeding and bandaging.

The course also covers injuries to bones and joints, including techniques for supporting an injured body part.

Participants will learn how to safely position or move an ill or injured person, as well as how to recognise and respond to shock and poisoning.

Resuscitation is another important part of the training, with practical instruction designed to help participants understand how to respond when someone is unconscious or not breathing normally.

The course offers practical knowledge that can be applied in everyday situations, potentially helping participants respond calmly and effectively while waiting for professional medical assistance to arrive.

The training takes place at the Budapest Branch of the Hungarian Red Cross at 31 Arany János Street in District V.

The fee is HUF 42,290, payable by cash or bank card at the venue.

For anyone working towards a Hungarian driving licence, the course can help prepare for the required roadside first aid exam. Do note  the course and the exam are separate, so enrolling in this training should not be mistaken for booking that exam.
