Idles Returns to Budapest on 8 July
The British post-punk band doesn’t believe in beating around the bush; in their songs they fearlessly tackle even the most sensitive topics, from politics to their own personal demons.

IDLES are one of the strongest proofs that after the 2000s, there are still defining guitar bands whose raw energy sends adrenaline rushing through us - and makes it feel great to shout into the world with them.

Their first headline Budapest concert on July 8th at Budapest Park offers the perfect opportunity for that cathartic experience.

Formed in Bristol in 2009, IDLES started out mostly as a university band. Hardened on the live circuit, they released their much-praised debut album Brutalism in 2017, followed by four more records, most recently TANGK in 2024.

It’s their most ambitious and astonishing work to date: where IDLES once mocked the world’s arrogance and confronted injustice with a clenched jaw, here the processing of personal trauma moves into the foreground.

They’ve entered a new era, offering the fruits of perseverance - love, joy, and gratitude simply for the act of existence itself. TANGK radiates a radical and defiant sense of empowerment, with highlights like the pulsing, dirty “Dancer.”

After Crawler, this became the band’s second album to top the UK charts.

Over the years, with their energetic songs, Idles have become one of the most distinctive guitar-driven acts, never forgetting their mission: to stand against oppression and give a voice to the marginalized.

The band has so far visited Budapest only once, achieving roaring success at Sziget Festival in 2019.

Now the time has come again for a massive collective celebration, where anger can be released, and unrestrained happiness can take over - on July 8th at Budapest Park.

Sziget Festival attracted around 350,000–360,000 visitors this year, well below its target of 400,000 and down from the 416,000 who attended last year's six-day event. Founder Károly Gerendai says the festival now needs to “move forward to break free” from a model that has become increasingly difficult to sustain.
