Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, MOM Kult Budapest, 26 April

Keyboards and synthesizers dominate, but distinctive guitar and vocal melodies shine through too. The band gained real fame in the 1970s with albums like Solar Fire (1973), Nightingales & Bombers (1975), and The Roaring Silence (1976) — the latter featuring the band's biggest hit, a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Blinded by the Light," which topped the US charts.
The band has been active for over 50 years with just a few breaks, led by the still-active 85-year-old Mann. Despite numerous lineup changes, today's version is battle-tested: founding member Mick Rogers on guitar, John Lingwood on drums (joined in '79), Steve Kinch on bass (solid since '85), and vocalist Robert Hart (with them for just over a decade).
Constant renewal defines their history — not just through member swaps but evolving sounds across eras. Influences include the British prog rock scene, rhythm and blues roots, jazzy improvisation, and the American songwriting tradition, reflected in covers of Springsteen, Dylan, and others.
Their commercial peak was the '70s and '80s, but they keep touring as an iconic act for conceptual, keyboard-driven rock. Fans in Hungary can catch them in an intimate, comfortable spot at MOM Kulturális Központ's theater hall on April 26—a special chance to hear a true music giant live.
