Xpat Interview: David Brown

I have now been in Hungary approximately six years and involved in Hungarian Cricket in an organisational basis, from the beginning of the actual formation of the Hungarian League.

My first contacts within Hungarian Cricket were Andrew Leckonby (also now committee member) and Andy Grieve (also heavily involved in the development of cricket in Hungary, particularly junior and woman?s cricket). I met Andrew and Andy in a Slovakian restaurant in Budapest, this led to the first official public meeting at Beckets Irish Pub, also Budapest, which Andy and myself chaired, with 15 attendees.

I am 49 years of age but remain 25 at heart, thus breaking my Achilles tendon two years ago playing cricket! I work as an Engineering Inspector in the Nuclear and Power Industries throughout Eastern Europe. My passions are my two little boys (3 and 1), Cricket and of course the wife!

My dream with reference to Hungarian Cricket is for Hungary to be affiliated into the ICC (International Cricket Council). Association membership would follow within 5 years, and then I can relax and take up golf!! A close third would be for England to retain ashes for the next 50 years!
