Xpat Interview: Csaba Demeter
One of the youngest and most talented winemakers of Hungary from the Eger region, where he was born 32 years ago. His success is a crowning achievement of a 4 generation of family based winemaking tradition. The business had already been producing quality wine during the Austro-Hungarian as early as 1890’s.

The family's property was nationalized - like so many others - in the early 1950’s. The personal will, commitment and desire to reconnect with the past and regain control of the once flourishing family business, were the hallmarks of the past 20 years.

He is a true country man and part of his land. Having learned his trade from the grandparents, he sees his future in Eger and in the greater Europe where he has traveled to perfect his English (Malta) and his winemaking skills (France). Upon returning from Malta and France he discovered that Hungary is not the center of the world, neither was the Hungarian winemaking. Humbled by the experience, he is inspired to elevate his brand to a world class status. Winning numerous awards in prestigious international wine contests during the past few years are only the first steps.
