Landing right into one of the coldest winters ever wasn't the best welcome, nor did my struggle to study the language. Knowing we will be here for a while I spent almost a year in Hungarian language schools. As spring came things started to look a little better - I found a temporary work place, made some friends and got to know the city better by walking a lot.

It took a while longer but at the end of a struggle with Hungarian bureaucracy, loads of frustrations and almost giving up - I finally got the permit to practice physiotherapy. I now work at Revita rendelö and at FirstMed Centers offering physio treatments in English and in Hebrew and enjoying every minute.

I recently discovered the joy of photography so once again I enjoy walking the streets of Budapest, exploring new places and rediscovering things I never noticed before in the more familiar streets."

1. When did you arrive in Hungary and what brought you here?
November 2005, my fiancee started med-school

2. Have you ever been an expatriate elsewhere?
No, but I spent almost 1 year traveling

3. What surprised you most about Hungary?
That family name comes before the given name

4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend - what must they absolutely see and do?
Szabadság tér (especially at night), the small streets in and around the Castle district, guided tour in the Szépmûvészeti Múzeum by 'friend's of the museum'.

5. What is your favorite Hungarian food?
Kürtös Kalács and most sweet versions of palacsinta

6. What is never missing from your refrigerator?
Yogurt, apple juice, honey, chocolate

7. What is your favorite Hungarian word?
Can't think of any...

8. What do you miss the most from home?
Sunshine, family, friends, the beach, soft white low-fat cheese...

9. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?
Professional traveler (if there is such thing) or travel-book writer

10. What's a job you would definitely never want?
Anything that has to do with sales

11. Where did you spend your last vacation?
Ski trip (my first time ever) in Slovakia. In the summer we spent a month in the United-states, the best part was a road-trip from NYC to Acadia National Park in Maine.

12. Where do you hope to spend your next one?
I'm not fussy about vacation locations. Anywhere I haven't been before would be great. Looks like this time it will be Sweden.

13 What was your favorite band, film, or hobby as a teen?
I spent as much time as I could around horses, volunteering at a therapeutic riding center. I also read a lot, one of my favorites was 'The lion, the with and the wardrobe'.

14. What can't you resist?
Chocolate

15. Red wine or white?
No preference

16. Book or movie?
Tough choice... I'll have to say both. Most recent favorites ? 'The Time Traveler's Wife' by Audrey Niffenegger (book) and 'The Illusionist' (movie)

17. Morning person or night person?
Definitely not morning person. More like middle-of-the-day person

18. Dog person or cat person?
Dog. We have a beautiful brown labrador

19. Buda side or Pest side?
We live in Pest (very convenient) but would much prefer the greener Buda. Occasionally we escape to the Budai hegyek for some fresh air

20. What would you say is your personal motto?
Smile and the world will smile back :)
