A sales focussed individual, I discovered the perfect company to work for on my return to Belfast after many years living in England.
I love golf, but play it very badly, I enjoy surfing, but am better at falling in to the sea, and am fanatical about Ireland rugby. I have two children who live in England."
1. When did you arrive in Hungary and what brought you here?
November 2007 for a short spell, followed by some short follow up visits, then a three month spell last year. THis year, I've been here since May, and it all began because of work.
2. Have you ever been an expatriate elsewhere?
I'm from Northern Ireland, and lived in England for many years, if that counts!
3. What surprised you most about Hungary?
The people are not only friendly, but want so much to learn, to succeed.
4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend - what must they absolutely see and do?
No matter where you are in Hungary, you MUST eat Langos.
5. What is your favourite Hungarian food?
See above!!
6. What is never missing from your refrigerator?
Ketchup.
7. What is your favourite Hungarian word?
Pontosan
8. What do you miss most from home?
Beaches, and the ability to make a fool of myself on a surf board.
9. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?
Professional golfer.
10. What's a job you would definitely never want?
Any hospital job= the majority are very overworked.
11. Where did you spend your last vacation?
If we count last weekend, Tiszafured- a must see.
12. Where do you hope to spend your next holiday?
I'd like to return to New Zealand, but realistically, I'd like to get to know more of Hungary, and maybe Transylvania.
13. What was your favourite band, film, or hobby as a teen?
The Beatles, Yellow Submarine!
14. What can't you resist?
Temptation...
15. Red wine or white?
Red, but light reds with not too much tannin.
16. Book or movie?
Movie please.
17. Morning person or night person?
Morning
18. Which social issue do you feel most strongly about?
The rights of the individual to express him/herself without seeking to cause offence.
19. Buda or Pest side?
Buda- Eagle Hill is astonishing!
20. What would you say is your personal motto?
"Get busy living or get busy dying" - from the movie The Shawshank Redemption.
