Xpat Interview: Attila Horváth
Although I have an education in tourism, my enthusiasm for everything about cars directed me to different jobs in the automobile industry. Over the last 15 years I’ve had the chance to work at importers as well as at thriving dealerships. Today I am responsible for the operation of Citroën and Hyundai Őrmező.

1. Where did you grow up?
Born and grew up in Budapest.

2. What Hungarian traditions bring back fond memories of your childhood?
Eating soup every day and “locsolás” at Easter, of course.

3. What would you miss most if you moved away from Hungary?
The bigger family, friends and different tastes.

4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend - what must they absolutely see and do?
Walk a lot and take a good look around! Take boat trip, take the funicular, the cogwheel train and Libegő! And eat and drink well!

5. What is your favourite Hungarian food?
I really like most of them, but to name a menu: Jókai bean soup, Venison ragout and palacsinta.

6. What is never missing from your kitchen?
Home-like bread + real butter, fruits and some chocolate.

7. What is your favourite place in Hungary?
Definitely Balaton and Ráckeve, but the list must be extended with the Danube bend, Tisza-tó, Budapest, Sopron and Pécs.

8. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?
To run a small family hotel. Otherwise musician, singer and racing driver.

9. What’s a job you would definitely never want?
Politician.

10. Where did you spend your last vacation?

Salzkammergut, Austria.

11. Where do you hope to spend your next one?
Portugal or Scandinavia.

12. What was your favourite band, film, or hobby as a teen?

Queen, Led Zep, Guns ‘n’ Roses, Pink Floyd, Karthago, P-Mobil (still are) to name a few; listening to them + karting and driving any car.

13. What can’t you resist?
My Family and driving a good car.

14. Red wine or white?
Do not discriminate but white preferred.

15. Which achievement in your life are you most pleased about?

To have a family and good friends. Language knowledge and not to leave long term wishes.

16. Book or movie?

Both.

17. Morning person or night person?

Night. I like the morning mood but it’s always pretty difficult to get me started.

18. Which social issue do you feel most strongly about?
Kids on the edge of life.

19. Buda side or Pest side?
Buda-Pest.

20. What would you say is your personal motto?
Be (and remain) a Human.
