I studied law in Scotland but always knew I wanted to leave the UK when I could manage to. I'm working in Financial Support now next to West End and I speak English, French and Italian, as well as Hungarian which I am constantly learning.

Spare time activities include long distance running and mixed martial arts.

1. When did you arrive in Hungary and what brought you here?
I first came to Hungary in 2004 to catch a flight and ended up staying a few days in the city. Budapest just mesmorised me and things were helped along by a late night party in Zold Pardon where I met a wonderful girl who quickly became a reason to return to Budapest again and again and again until I realised things would be a lot simpler if I just moved here full stop!

2. Have you ever been an expatriate elsewhere?
I spent one year studying in France.

3. What surprised you most about Hungary ?
That the older generations can still be so closed at times. So scared to reveal any trace of emotion to strangers. In the beginning you think it's rudeness before you realise it's more complicated than that.

4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend - what must they absolutely see and do?
Castle district and the baths are a must. Also Ecseri piac!

5. What is your favourite Hungarian food?
Sült Kolbász with a huge hunk of bread and loads of mustard.

6. What is never missing from your refrigerator?
I won't lie. That would be beer!

7. What is your favourite Hungarian word?
Uhu

8. What do you miss the most from home?
UK curry houses. Although there are some great ones now in Budapest which are getting quite close!

9. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?
I would love to be a professional interpretor.

10. What's a job you would definitely never want?
Prime Minister of Hungary

11. Where did you spend your last vacation?
In North Korea.

12. Where do you hope to spend your next one?
Either in Russia or in Singapore.

13. What was your favourite band, film, or hobby as a teen?
My favourite artist was probably eminem, favourite film was American Beauty and my main hobby was hockey.

14. What can't you resist?
The call of the internet in the early hours of the morning!

15. Red wine or white?
Red, without question.

16. Book or movie?
Movie. Authors only have to set the scene and let the reader imagine. Movie producers have to set the scene in the script and then actually make it happen.

17. Morning person or night person?
Night night night.

18. Which social issue do you feel most strongly about?
The growing wealth gap and the fact that so many young people are simply giving up on success even before they turn 30.

19. Buda side or Pest side?
Buda

20. What would you say is your personal motto?
Onwards and upwards, forwards not backwards.
