XpatLoop Interview: Salamon György, Beer Sommelier, Organiser of Belgian Beer Festival
- 15 May 2014 12:00 PM

These days I regularly hold Belgian beer tastings based on my knowledge, experience and history with Belgian beers: I visited many Belgian breweries and decided to write my thesis in the topic. After graduating I started working for Hungarian wholesaler of more than 150 Belgian beers - Belgaco Kft. - where I still work as a Brand Manager. Besides my everyday duties I am the firm's “domestic Belgian beer expert” , and one of the chief organisers of the annual Belgian Beer Fest in Budapest.
Belgian Beer Festival: the first year we announced we would hold a beer tasting for a couple of hours, we expected around 300 guests, however it was such a success that more than 1000 people arrived. Thus we felt the need to organise it again entitled Belgian Beer Fest, and as interest has been growing year-on-year we are organising the fest for the 5th time this year.
The fest is recommended for those who love special tastes and are open to new beer experiences, however “beginner” beer fans and beer experts can mutually find novelty at the present fest. Visitors can 'consume' the event entry free in beers, and guests also get a special beer glass with the logo of the fest.
