XpatLoop Interview Two: Rita Rádler, Balaton Wine Tours

Something new is taking place in my life.. A couple of weeks ago I finished working at the Michelin star restaurant, Costes in Budapest. Although this was a very valuable period in my life, I now feel very excited as I have new challenges ahead!
From the middle of May I start my own business, Balaton Wine Tours. Having grown up close to Lake Balaton, it has always been a dream of mine to organize tours to encourage others to discover the quality wines and gastronomy available in the region.
On the home front, there are no major changes.
2. On a scale of 1 to 10 how happy are you with your life in Hungary, and why?
I feel happy with life in Hungary because here are my family and friends. Also, I enjoy what I am doing. Hungary is a beautiful country with great wines but I can only give it an 8 because the country’s economy still needs to develop and become stronger.
3. What’s the best party you’ve been to whilst in Hungary, and why?
My best friend’s wedding, as all my childhood friend also were there.
4. What’s your favorite drink?
Wine!
5. What hidden talents do you have?
I am currently studying how to make enamel jewelry; I hope to obtain my diploma very shortly.
6. What was the most interesting travel trip you have ever taken?
A trip to Mexico with my Mexican friends. We travelled by car from Mexico City to Tulum and all around the country, visiting lots of regions and places. It was great to discover this amazing country, its different cultures and its local peoples. I really loved Mexican food!
7. If you were given a wish that could come true, what would you ask for?
That all my dreams will come true.
8. What’s the last book you read, and movie you watched?
The last book I read was called “Babérligetkönyv” by Hungarian writer, Béla Hamvas. This was a small collection of essays about moments in life. “Whiplash” was the last movie I saw. It is a story of a young talented drummer who begins to pursue perfection at any cost.
9. If someone wrote a biography about you, what would the title be?
Always smile
10. What is the perfect pizza toppings combination for you?
Buffalo mozzarella, tomato, basil, ruccola
11. If you could trade places with any other person for a week, real or fictional, with whom would it be?
Richard Geoffroy, Chef the cave at Dom Pérignon :)
12. On a scale of 1 to 10 how unusual are you, and why?
I think a ‘0’ but, I it would be nice if some other people could be as non-unusual as me!
13. What’s the best website you’ve ever visited, and why?

14. Who do you admire the most, and why?
John Lennon
15. What do you like best and least about living in Hungary?
Most of all I like nature; I hate it when people are not open with each other.
16. What has made the biggest impact on your life so far, and why?
The 4 years that I spent in London where I experienced many things and learned much.
17. If you won USD 30 million, what would you do with the money?
Travel around the world!
18. If your life had a theme song, what would it be?
“Livin' & Lovin'”- Sena and The Forward Ever Band
19. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
On the north shores of Lake Balaton, in a house overlooking the lake and the volcano created hills.
20. In ten years from now what will you be doing?
At the moment I can’t imagine different then organizing wine tours but, whatever happens, I hope it will be connected with people and with wine.
