Mohammed Abdulhadi Almatrafi, Former Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Mohammed Abdulhadi Almatrafi has served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) to Hungary since January 2015.

Prior to that, he was the General Manager of NGOs and Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and he was also a member of the Council of Human Rights Commission in the KSA.

In 1996 he served at the Saudi Embassy in London, where he received his Master degree in International Studies and Diplomacy from the School of Oriental & African Studies, University of London.

1. When did you arrive in Hungary and what brought you here?
I arrived on the 7th January 2015, because I was appointed the Ambassador of the Kingdom os Saudi Arabia in Hungary.

2. Have you ever been an expatriate elsewhere?
Yes, in London, UK.

3. What surprised you most about Hungary?
That Hungary is a deep-rooted country.

4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend - what must they absolutely see and do?
They must see the Buda Castle, Heroes Square and have a walk from Vaci street to Danube Promenade.

 

5. What is your favourite Hungarian food?
Fish soup

6. What is never missing from your refrigerator?
Dates

7. What is your favourite Hungarian word?
Köszönöm.

8. What do you miss the most from home?
My parents

9. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?
Teacher, because this profession has a key importance of the humans' life.

10. What's a job you would definitely never want?
Journalist, because a word has a great responsibility.

11. Where did you spend your last vacation?
Milano, Italy

12. Where do you hope to spend your next one?
South region of Saudi Arabia

13. What was your favourite band, film, or hobby as a teen?
My favourite hobby was swimming.

14. Apart of temptation what can't you resist?
Eating dates

15. Book or movie?
Hungarian Book titled Studies on political Islam and Islamic political thought eddited by Kinga Dévényi

16. Morning person or night person?
Morning person.

17. Which social issue do you feel most strongly about?
Suffering of refugees in all parts of the world

18. Buda side or Pest side?
Buda-Pest

19. What would you say is your personal motto?
Patience is the key to relief.
