1. Where did you grow up?

I was born in Hungary’s 2nd largest city, in Debrecen, but I grew up in Budapest.

2. If you could be an expat anywhere in the world, where would you choose?

In my case it would have to be London. I just love the parks, the vibe, and some of the signs also keep me entertained. Whenever I visit, I always try to spend a little time in Waterstones near Trafalgar Square, do mostly (although not always) window shopping and just experience the British way of “keeping calm and carrying on”!

3. What would you miss most if you moved away from Hungary?

Apart from family and friends, the architecture in Budapest, Margitsziget, Balaton, the Chain Bridge – the “little” sister of Marlow Bridge. Every time I see the Bridge, I know I am at home.

4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend - what must they absolutely see and do?

Parliament, Castle area, Basilica, City Park, the Shoe Memorial, the Covered Market and experience some of the arts – in the Opera House, in the many museums whatever your taste. Eat Lángos, try a dance class, go to one of the spas, and if you can, watch a water polo match. Too much for a week-end?! You’ll just have to come back!

5. What is your favourite food?

Gulyás leves, palacsinta – what my grandma cooked for me when I returned home after having been away for a year as an exchange student.

6. What is your favourite sport / form of exercise?

Skiing – it completely relaxes me and switches my mind off everything else.

7. What is your favourite place in Hungary?

The sight of Tihany Abbey at Lake Balaton.

8. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?

Architect, news anchor.

9. Where did you spend your last vacation?

Bükfürdő, enjoying nature and the spa

10. Where do you hope to spend your next one?

Schladming, the beautiful ski resort in Austria (fingers crossed)

11. What was your favourite band, film, or hobby as a teen?

Anne of Green Gables, the original film.

12. Apart of temptation what can't you resist?

Francia krémes

13. Red wine or white?

Rosé

14. Book or movie?

Either one

15. Which social issue do you feel most strongly about?

Poverty in Hungary.

16. Buda or Pest side?

Both sides – Budapest!

17. Which achievement in your life are you most pleased about?

I have been blessed with many rewarding initiatives whether Europe Trade Month, GREAT Mega Missions, Back to Work with Tesco, Regional Supplier Forums, Tesco’s Strategic Partnership Agreement with the Hungarian Government, (V)VIP visits, our DHL Express facility tours or initial work on the British-Hungarian Partnership Forum – the list is too long! So, if I’d have to pick just one thing, I would say “Having had the privilege of serving British-Hungarian/Central European relations for 25+ years”.

18. What would you say is your personal motto?

Always be ready for the miracle.
