Henrietta Kovacs, CEO of Autistic Art Foundation
Henrietta has been the CEO of Autistic Art Foundation since 2019. Her team's mission is to donate those residential homes in Hungary where youngsters and adults live with autism. These people would not be able to live in our society without our help.

The Foundation opened its own Art Gallery in Buda, Bartók Béla street. The Gallery is open to showcase the talents of disadvantaged people and educate us, teaches the beauty of support and selflessness.

She has three sons. She believes our world will be as we make it. Effective change can only be achieved through joint efforts.

1. Where did you grow up?

I was born and grew up in Budapest.

2. If you could be an expat anywhere in the world, where would you choose?

I would move to Italy, to Toscany, to San Gimignano. I love being there, the people, the mentality, the cuisine, the music and - of course -  Prosecco.

3. What would you miss most if you moved away from Hungary?

Leaving your homeland is a complicated situation, a hard decision. Besides the fact, I would move even tomorrow but we have three youngsters who have already had deep roots with their friends and classmates, so I would not be able to leave them behind. And of course my heart would be broken for my nice friends, parents, brother, colleagues and Lake Balaton.

4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend - what must they absolutely see and do?

Spas in Budapest, especially Rudas. This is my husband's and my favourite place to relax and get healthy.

5. What is your favourite food?

I love good foods, yes, but I prefer cooking rather than eating. It is absolutely OK with me if I invite 20 or 30 people to our Balaton house and organize a huge garden party with lovely music, cold Prosecco and food by me. I love spicy foods with rich taste, exotic flavour.

6. What is your favourite sport / form of exercise?

I love cardio. I like jogging, doing many sit-ups, and SUP at Lake Balaton.

7. What is your favourite place in Hungary?

15 years ago we bought a small house at Lake Balaton, in Balatonfűzfő. This is our shelter to escape after a long week's work in the capital. This house is perfectly suitable to host a minimum of 12 people in order to gather together, share opinions, problems, ideas, plans and joy with each other. This house is loved by our sons as well, who are 22, 21 and 16, so it is always a great pleasure for me, as a mother, when the family is together. Plus, Manka, our vizsla lady, who is a fan of Balaton as well.

8. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?

Actually, I am in love with my job now. I love the mission of Autistic Art Foundation. I love supporting people with autism and helping their family members plus educating the mainstream to donate, be more generous. I graduated many, many years ago as a teacher of Hungarian and English language. I loved teaching but after 15 years I needed a change. But my dream was to become an actress. I would not change anything, I am completely satisfied with my present but if I could start again maybe I would be more persistent to reach the stage ...

9. What’s a job you would definitely never want?

I would not be able to imagine myself as a politician. I do not like fights and disputes and quarrels. I am in the favour of clear  and direct thinking.

10. Where did you spend your last vacation?

I have spent my vacation in Italy and Slovenia. I love the sea very much.

11. Where do you hope to spend your next one?

I have no exact plan where to spend my next vacation. It is my husband's role to plan. I go anywhere he takes me and there is sea, kids, dog and friends.

12. What was your favourite band, film, or hobby as a teen?

Music has a very important role in my life. I like dancing and spending time with music in the background. I guess, I do not like being in silence. I loved different types of music and they are still with me: Spandau Ballet, Supertramp, Depeche Mode, Aha, Miles Davis, Gloria Estefan...
My favourite movie is 'City of Angels' with Mag Ryan and Nicolas Cage.

13. Apart from temptation what can't you resist?

I found it hard to say no to any party that seems good, even when I'm dead tired. I love being together with my friends, dancing, eating good and changing ideas.

14. Red or white wine?

Prosecco.

15. Book or movie?

Both.

16. Morning person or night person?

I am definitely a night person.

17. Which social issue do you feel most strongly about?

Helping those people who are living with disabilities. I am very much annoyed by the indifference with which we live our daily lives. I feel it is an obligatory task to help people who live much more difficult lives through no fault of their own. In my opinion, this is simply not fair.

18. Buda or Pest side?

To tell the truth, I do not like this question...  It depends on what you want to do.  Budapest is a wonderful city, both sides are OK. We have lived in Pest as well, where we loved all of our flats we lived in. We moved close 18 years ago to Buda, close to Gellert Hill. This district is a livable part of the capital.

19. Which achievement in your life are you most pleased about?

My lovely husband, who is my best friend as well. We have been married for 24 years. And I am pleased about my 3 adult sons. The life with these four testosterone bombs is simply full of humour.

20. What would you say is your personal motto?

Laugh as much as you can in your life.
