Tyagi is a storyteller and filmmaker originally from India. He studied in the UK and Belgium before moving to Hungary where he has been living on and off for the past 7–8 years. 

1. When did you arrive in Hungary, and what brought you here?

I first came to Hungary in 2014 to study film directing for a semester. I returned in 2016 and then again in 2018 after living in other countries.

2. On a scale of 1 to 10, how happy are you with your life in Hungary, and why?

Around a 7. Life is Up and Down, but it goes on.

3. If you were granted one wish, what would it be?

To speak Hungarian fluently.

4. What’s the last book you read and the last movie you watched?

Book: The Creative Act by Rick Rubin (highly recommended).

Movie: Babygirl (wasn’t impressed).

5. If someone wrote a biography about you, what would the title be?

Check the last answer.

6. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

On a farm in the woods, next to the sea/ocean.

7. Who do you admire the most, and why?

The unknown people who live calm, content lives. It feels quite distant from mine.

8. Have you ever been an expatriate elsewhere?

Yes, I’ve spent most of my life as an expatriate.

9. Friends are visiting Budapest for the weekend - what must they absolutely see and do?

The baths, District VI bars, Castle Hill, and Normafa.

10. What is your favourite Hungarian food?

Hamis gulyás, rántott sajt, rántott gomba & tartár sauce.

11. What is never missing from your refrigerator?

Erős Pista.

12. What is your favourite Hungarian word?

Virág. Világ.

13. What do you miss most from home?

The food.

14. What career, other than your own, would you love to pursue?

Chef.

15. What’s a job you would definitely never want?

Accountant.

16. Where did you spend your last vacation?

Paris.

17. Where do you hope to spend your next holiday?

Somewhere by the sea or ocean.

18. Apart from temptation, what can’t you resist?

A nap in the afternoon. 

19. What was your favourite band, film, or hobby as a teen?

Film: Jackie Chan movies.
Hobby: Collecting pens and quills.
Band: Red Hot Chili Peppers.

20. Red or white?

Red.

21. Books or films?

Books.

22. Morning person or night person?

Morning.

23. Which social issue do you feel most strongly about?

The environment.

24. Buda or Pest?

Buda - though I live in Pest.

25. What would you say is your personal motto?

Two lines:
