Sziget Fest Budapest Expected To Attract Record 400,000 Visitors

A record number of around 400,000 visitors are expected to attend the Sziget Festival that will begin on Budapest’s Óbuda Island on Monday. It shows unprecedented interest in the event that weekly passes have all been sold in advance for the first time in the festival’s history, organisers said.

BKK’s public transport boat service operates normal again after raise of water level on river Danube. From 12 of July (Saturday) the boat lines D11, D12 and D13 will use their all stops, including Népfürdő utca, Meder utca, Haller utca and Óbudai-sziget which have been skipped due to low water level.

A giant ferris wheel, the Sziget Eye, has been set up on Budapest’s central Erzsébet Square to promote this year’s summer Sziget festival, the festival’s main organiser, Károly Gerendai, said on Monday. The 65-metre tall structure is open to punters with 41 cabins seating eight each and VIP cabins seating four, Gerendai told a press conference.
