Ivan Fischer, Music Director of the Budapest Festival Orchestra and the Konzerthaus Berlin, was awarded with an Honorary Membership of the Royal Academy of Music. The Honorary Membership is limited to 300 persons; Mendelssohn, Liszt, Stravinsky and Casals are amongst those who received this honour.

The Áts family is a long-established name in the Tokaj wine Region of northeastern Hungary. The pop music series of programmes of the 2013 Hay Festival Budapest starts with the Minneapolis band Dark Dark Dark in Akvárium Klub on 17 May, Friday, 9:30 PM. On Saturday 9 PM Péter Závada, Márton Simon, István Pion and Mátyás Sirokai will be accompanied by Amoeba Band, and on Sunday 9:30 PM the Finnish band French Films will be introduced to the Hungarian audience.
