Review: BaBar Bistro Budapest, Hungarian With A Twist

In an ordinary goulash soup you will find normal beef chopped in bite-sized pieces, potatoes, onions and paprika. However, the restaurant at the corner of Huszár and Munkás streets doesn’t offer a lot of ordinary things. The traditional, usually rather boring dishes are presented here in a renewed way, with a modern international flair.

On display until 4 September 2016. Everything in this exhibition is arranged according to its dominant colour. The greens are in one room, the blues in another, and the reds in the third. The aim is to give a new perspective on the dazzling variety of artworks held in the Museum of Applied Arts, which means that everything on display here comes from the Museum’s own collections.

Victor Vasarely (1906–1997) was a Hungarian-born French artist, often referred to as the father of op art movement (a style of visual art that uses optical illusion). His work is now open to the public at the French Institute in Budapest until June 18.

The premiere of the Etude series composed for solo piano was a huge success at the Budapest Congress & World Trade Center, and the etudes were richly applauded by the American audience at the Carnegie Hall debut concert.
